Federal alcohol permits, permit by permit
Type a business name or a permit number. 84,518 permits held by 55,422 companies: wine producers, distilled spirits plants, importers and wholesalers.
Buying from, selling to or financing a producer, an importer or a wholesaler? A dated federal permit report ($19) — or the new permits of a state, every week.
What this is
To make wine or spirits, to import alcohol or to sell it at wholesale in the United States, a business needs a federal basic permit. The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau publishes the list as files to download, every week. This site gives every permit a record you can find and cite: the number, the holder, the operating name, the premises — and the holder's other permits, across states and types.
Who uses it
- Permit holders — check your own record, as a buyer or a carrier will see it.
- Distributors, retailers and carriers — confirm a supplier's federal permit before a deal.
- Suppliers to the trade — the new permits of the week.
What it is not
Not the TTB, and not a copy of a permit. The list gives no issue date and no history. Brewers, industrial alcohol and tobacco permits are not published by the TTB. How to read the records.
